WWE Smackdown: First Women’s US Champion to Be Crowned Tonight
Two upsets took place on Smackdown in the semifinals of the women’s U.S. title tournament, so we’ll have a surprising matchup tonight on Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Michin knocked off “Miss Money in the Bank” Tiffany Stratton after hitting Eat Defeat. If Stratton wants a title, she’ll have to cash in on Nia Jax or Liv Morgan.
Chelsea Green will be Michin’s opponent, as she defeated future Hall of Famer Bayley with the Unpretty-Her.
Naomi is the new co-holder of the WWE women’s tag team title, replacing Jade Cargill. She will team with Bianca Belair to face Nia Jax and Candice LeRae next week in a title match on Smackdown.
SCOTTISH RAMPAGE
Drew McIntyre continues to target Roman Reigns’ allies. After attacking Jey Uso and Sami Zayn on Raw, he blasted Jimmy Uso with a Claymore Kick on Smackdown.
Roman Reigns challenged Solo Sikoa to a Tribal Combat match for control of the Samoan wrestling family and the Ula Falaa necklace.
That match is set for the loaded Netflix debut of Raw on Jan. 6. Wasn’t the WarGames match supposed to settle the Tribal Chief issue?
Sikoa battled LA Knight, and he lost by disqualification due to interference by Jacob Fatu.
Carmelo Hayes was confident before facing a mystery opponent who was transferring from Raw to Smackdown. It was Braun Strowman, who beat Hayes in less than 90 seconds.
MAIN EVENT TONIGHT
Cody Rhodes brawled with Kevin Owens in advance of their WWE title match on Saturday Night’s Main Event tonight. The show will air on NBC and Peacock.
Jesse “The Body” Ventura will be back to announce the show. Other 1980s stars who will appear include Tito Santana, Koko B. Ware, Greg “The Hammer” Valentine, Jimmy Hart, and Ted DiBiase.
