WWE Smackdown: #DIY Recaptures Tag Team Championship
Johnny Gargano & Tomasso Ciampa have had their ups and downs over the years, but unlike The New Day, their recent problems with each other were a giant swerve.
#DIY won the WWE tag team title from the Motor City Machine Guns last night on Smackdown in Minneapolis.
Gargano & Ciampa have been bickering for weeks, and the fake dissention continued during the match before they came together to win the title.
The Street Profits were supposed to get the title shot, but they were mysteriously attacked earlier in the night. Hmmm, I wonder who did it?
TRANSFER WINDOW
WWE champion Cody Rhodes opened the show by talking about Kevin Owens, who will challenge him on the Dec. 14 episode of Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Chad Gable came out with his American Made faction … wait a minute. Aren’t they supposed to be on Raw?
Wrestlers from Raw, Smackdown, and NXT will be able to enter a “transfer window” and switch brands in the next few weeks. Presumably, the rosters will stabilize after Raw debuts on Netflix in the new year.
Rhodes defeated Gable in the main event, only to be attacked by Owens after the match.
WOMEN’S ACTION
Bianca Belair defeated Piper Niven by hitting the KOD onto the interfering Chelsea Green. The fans chanted “This is awesome!” during the match.
Tiffany Stratton thrilled her hometown fans in Minneapolis by defeating Elektra Lopez and Naomi in a U.S. title tournament match.
The semifinals will take place on next week’s Smackdown, with Bayley vs. Chelsea Green and Michin vs. Stratton.
The new champion will be crowned on Saturday Night’s Main Event, which will also feature the return of Jesse “The Body” Ventura, who announced the first show back in 1985.
