WWE Smackdown: Are Kevin Owens and CM Punk Ready to Rumble?
Kevin Owens feels like he’s being overlooked on the road to WrestleMania.
He opened last night’s Smackdown by saying everyone is talking about potential WrestleMania title matches against Cody Rhodes.
Owens could upset that narrative by winning Cody’s WWE title in a ladder match at tonight’s Royal Rumble in Indianapolis.
CM Punk came out and talked about facing Owens at WrestleMania.
Owens said he liked the other 29 guys in the Rumble better than Punk, and he hopes Punk fails to achieve his dream of headlining WrestleMania.
Punk countered that Owens has lost five title matches at the Royal Rumble and also lost to Logan Paul.
WOMEN’S RUMBLE CONTENDERS
Tiffany Stratton talked about who would challenge her at WrestleMania for the WWE women’s title.
Candice LeRae said she would enter the Rumble, but then Nia Jax showed up and attacked Tiffy.
Naomi defeated Liv Morgan, and then they engaged in a post-match brawl involving their respective partners, Bianca Belair and Racquel Rodriguez.
MELO DOES MISS
Carmelo Hayes made fun of Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Halliburton, who was in the crowd. Then Hayes lost the opening match to Jimmy Uso.
Halliburton said that after tomorrow’s game against the Atlanta Hawks, he would head to Lucas Oil Stadium to attend the Rumble.
Chelsea Green retained the women’s United States title. She got disqualified for bashing Michin with a kendo stick.
Motor City Machine Guns teamed with Los Garza to defeat #DIY and Pretty Deadly. MCMG and #DIY will try to steal the show at the Rumble in a best-of-three-falls match for the WWE tag team title.
DOWN GOES MIZ
Andrade scored a win over two-time WWE champion The Miz with a spinning back elbow.
In the main event, LA Knight & Damien Priest defeated Jacob Fatu & Tama Tonga. Priest pinned Tonga after the South of Heaven chokeslam.
Fatu’s star is rising, and he could wreck shop in the Royal Rumble.
