WWE Raw: CM Punk, Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre Jump Into Royal Rumble
The Royal Rumble is at its best when it has a lot of potential winners, and this is one of those years.
CM Punk came out to start last night’s Monday Night Raw from San Jose, Calif. He said that Seth Rollins is in his rearview mirror, and he’s ready to win the Royal Rumble.
One thing Punk has never done is compete in the main event of WrestleMania.
Rollins came out and said he would bounce back from last week’s loss to Punk, win the Rumble, and flush Punk’s WrestleMania dreams down the toilet.
Drew McIntyre called both men selfish and said that the real enemy is Roman Reigns. McIntyre said he would enter the Rumble to stop Reigns from dominating WWE again.
CERO MIEDO!
Penta debuted in WWE with a victory in an outstanding match with Chad Gable. Penta was a big star for Lucha Underground and AEW before arriving in WWE.
Sheamus defeated Ludwig Kaiser. After the bout, Sheamus got in the face of Intercontinental champion Bron Breakker.
In his successful career, Sheamus has never won the IC title.
LYRA WINS CHAMPIONSHIP
Lyra Valkyria made history as the first women’s Intercontinental champion. She defeated Dakota Kai to win an eight-woman tournament.
Rhea Ripley came out to talk about recapturing the women’s World title from Liv Morgan last week. Nia Jax and Bayley showed up for a trash-talking session and brawl, even though they are both on the Smackdown roster.
Speaking of Smackdown, Karrion Kross lamented that his feud with the Wyatt Sicks faction is over because the Wyatts are moving to Smackdown.
Sami Zayn defeated The Miz with the Blue Thunder Bomb.
Damien Priest beat Finn Balor in a street fight. Hopefully, that will end the feud between the former Judgment Day teammates.
MAIN EVENT MATCHUPS
Gunther came out to brag about being the World champion and better than everyone who competed on the Netflix debut show last week.
Jey Uso challenged Gunther for the World title, and that match will take place on the Jan. 25 episode of Saturday Night’s Main Event. Breakker will face Sheamus for the IC title on that show as well.
