Last night on NXT, we learned that Eddy Thorpe’s mystery attacker was … nobody.

Thorpe staged the attack on himself to gain a shot at the NXT championship next week against Trick Williams.

Last week, Thorpe won the Last Chance qualifying match for the Iron Survivor Challenge at Saturday’s Deadline event.

At the end of the show, Thorpe had seemingly been attacked by an unknown assailant.

Oba Femi took Thorpe’s place and won the Iron Survivor match, earning an NXT title match in two weeks at the New Year’s Evil show on Jan. 7.

Thorpe accused Femi of attacking him and complained about being robbed of a chance to win the NXT title.

NXT General Manager Ava granted Thorpe a title match. After signing the contract, Thorpe revealed his clever trick.

In the main event, NXT women’s champion Roxanne Perez teamed up with Cora Jade to defeat Guilia & Kelani Jordan.

Guilia will challenge Perez for the title at New Year’s Evil.
