WWE NXT: Ethan Page Loses His Smile; Eddy Thorpe Loses His Cool
Ethan Page took a page out of Shawn Michaels’ book at last night’s NXT show in Lowell, Mass.
Frustrated by his recent losses, Page said he was a disappointment to his family and that he had “lost his smile.”
This was direct reference to The HeartBreak Kid’s speech in 1997 when he gave up the WWF title in the same building.
Je’Von Evans came out to cheer Page up, but that was a mistake. Page attacked Evans, wrapped a chair around his neck, and stomped on it.
THE REAL HBK APPEARS
Shawn Michaels made an appearance at the end of the show after the NXT title match between Trick Williams and Eddy Thorpe ended in a double pin.
NXT General Manager Ava (The Rock’s daughter) ruled that Trick was still the champion. An angry Thorpe got into Ava’s face and shoved Michaels, who had come out to intervene.
Instead of getting punished, Thorpe has been added to the NXT title match between Trick Williams and Oba Femi at New Year’s Evil on Jan. 7.
DOUBLE DUTY
Axiom kicked off the show with the first of two matches. He was trying to replicate the efforts of his partner, Nathan Frazier, at Deadline.
The first match didn’t go well, as Oba Femi defeated him. But he bounced back to team with Frazier and retain the NXT tag team title with a win over Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang).
WOMEN’S ACTION
Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend of the Meta-Four faction defeated the makeshift team of Zaria & Sol Ruca.
Speaking of factions, Jaida Parker of OTM used a hip attack to defeat Wren Sinclair of No Quarter Catch Crew.
