Women’s Pro Baseball League Scheduled to Start in 2026

Women’s sports have never been more popular, and baseball is about to get a blast from the past with a new women’s league.

Most baseball fans would have never known that women had played before, if it weren’t for the classic movie “A League of Their Own.”

Some of us can still sing the theme song for the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, which lasted from 1943 until 1954.

Starting in 2026, parents can dress their little girls in outfits from the Women’s Pro Baseball League instead of the Rockville Peaches.

BLAZING THE TRAIL

This has been a great year for women’s sports. Caitlin Clark rewrote the college basketball record books before single-handedly pushing the WNBA onto the sports world’s radar.

While waiting to see the Mike Tyson-Jake Paul fight on Netflix, 50 million fans watched a boxing match between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.

So, this is the perfect time to see if women can break out of the softball bubble and play hardball like the boys.

According to Fast Company magazine, around 1,300 girls are already playing on high school baseball teams with their male schoolmates.

Next year, the WPSL will hold a scouting camp and a draft before starting with six teams in 2026.

We’ll see if the league takes off and leads to girls having their own baseball teams at the high school and college levels.
