Will Kliff Kingsbury Become The Bears’ Head Coach?

As a fan of the Chicago Bears, I think it’s safe to say that I’ve been on a never-ending merry-go-round of sadness. I have been stuck in a perpetual cycle of “what ifs” and “why nots,” that have sent my psyche HURDLING down the pit of despair.

They are the absolute WORST! They are a GOD-AWFUL franchise, that’s owned by an INCOMPETENT family, who is NOW tasked with making the most important coaching hire in the history of the team. Whether it’s Ben Johnson, Aaron Glenn, or even Mike Vrabel; Ryan Poles and co. are going to be doing their due-diligence this off-season, when it comes to (hopefully) pairing young Caleb Williams with the right mentor.

It’s going to be an interesting trip to the 2025 season, and it looks like that said “trip” (reportedly) started yesterday, when the news of Kliff Kingsbury’s eventual interview with the team became known.

Kingsbury, for those of you who are unaware, was the Head Coach for the Arizona Cardinals from 2019 to 2022. In those four years, he compiled a 28-37-1 record, while leading the Cards to 1 playoff appearance in that span. After that, he became a Senior Offensive Analyst for the USC Trojans, and then ended with the Washington Commanders as an OC.

He is one of the top candidates for the Head Coaching job in the Windy City, and someone who Bears fans would love to see don the navy and orange. With an offense in Washington that ranks 5th in points and 4th in yards, the Kingsbury offense could CERTAINLY change things in an environment like Chicago.

The best part about him though, is the fact that he already worked with Caleb back in college. He already knows how the QB’s ticks, and how he can get the best out of the young passer. He already has that rapport that you need between a coach and a quarterback, before he even steps foot into the building.

Hiring Kliff is an idea that I absolutely love, and it’s something that I can really get behind. The only issue that I have though…..is that Ben Johnson is still on the market. It’s that the leader of the Detroit Lions offense, who lead the league in scoring (33.3 PPG), has expressed interest in being a Head Coach. He is WITHOUT QUESTION the “golden boy” of the coaching circuit, and someone that the Bears can CERTAINLY excel with if he were the coach.

BUT, if that doesn’t work out for us (like most nice things with Chicago)……Kingsbury is ABSOLUTELY my back-up pick. He is WITHOUT QUESTION the second name I’d be calling up. We need an offensive mind at the helm, and if we can’t get Johnson….then we need Kliff.

Will any of this actually happen? Who knows! As we all know, this “McCaskey-lead calamity” has been a DUMPSTER FIRE when it comes to head coaching hires. But we need to stay positive, as Bears fans. Because if we don’t…..then we’ll just become a bunch of sad sacks of crap.

In the end though, as always…..what do I know? I’m just a guy from the Midwest, with a beer and a laptop, trying to make sense of this world.
