Will Brennan’s Two Homers Power Cleveland Guardians to 6-3 Win over Seattle Mariners

Just as David Fry has solidified the fifth spot in the Cleveland Guardians’ batting order, Will Brennan is doing the same for the No. 6 spot.

Brennan hit two home runs as the Guardians beat Seattle 6-3 on Thursday afternoon to win the three-game series.

Seattle jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning when third baseman Dylan Moore hit his second home run of the series.

The Guardians responded in the bottom of the first when Josh Naylor grounded into a double play to score Steven Kwan.

Say it with me now …

“No RBI for you!”

Cleveland tied the game in the bottom of the second when Brennan hit a solo home run to right-center field.

Seattle crept back into the lead at 3-2 in the fourth inning on an RBI double by second baseman Ryan Bliss.

The Guardians took control for good in the fifth inning when Andres Gimenez blasted a two-run homer to center field.

Cleveland wasn’t finished scoring in the fifth, as Josh Naylor doubled in Jose Ramirez to increase the lead to 5-3.

Brennan wrapped up the Guardians’ offensive output in the eighth with another solo homer, his eighth of the season.

MOUND MAGIC

Meanwhile, Logan Allen (8-3) and three relievers held Seattle to just five hits. Tim Herrin, Cade Smith, and Emmanuel Clase finished the job, with Clase earning his 22nd save.

Cleveland (46-26) has a six-game lead on the Kansas City Royals in the American League Central Division.

The Toronto Blue Jays are in town for a three-game series at Progressive Field. Carlos Carrasco will throw the first pitch for the Guardians at 7:10 p.m.
