Who Has The Edge in The WNBA Finals?

Back in June, the Minnesota Lynx took down the New York Liberty 94-89 to lift the Commissioner’s Cup trophy.

Nearly three months later, the two will meet with a little bit more up for grabs than just $500,000 and the Commissioner’s Cup title.

The 2024 WNBA finals tips off Thursday night at 7:00 EST on ESPN. The best of five series will begin in New York.

Seeking their first title, the Liberty enter this series as favorites having been the best team in the league all season.

New York has played in the finals in 1999, 2000, 2002, and 2023 yet will still be seeking their first championship.

On the other side, the Lynx produced one of the WNBA’s greatest dynasties winning four championships in seven years behind the great Maya Moore.

However, in 2024, these two teams are looking like they will be playing a long competitive series to determine a champion.

If the Liberty can get their superstars Sabrina Ionescu, Breanna Stewart, and Jonquel Jones going there is no doubt that New York is virtually unbeatable.

However, Minnesota may have the best player in the series in Napheesa Collier and if she plays like it, the Lynx could be lifting the trophy.

You have to think the Liberty obviously have the edge since they’ve been the best team all year long.

Don’t be surprised at all if this series goes four or five games, we’ve seen the Lynx play New York tough before.
