Which Dallas Wings Are Playing Overseas This Offseason

The offseason is in full swing for the Dallas Wings who will turn their focus to 2025 after a disappointing year that saw the team finish 9-31.

Many WNBA players will take on the offseason differently this year with the creation of the Unrivaled 3 on 3 league created by Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier.

Wings superstars Arike Ogunbowale and Satou Sabally will both participate in the league after going overseas in years past.

Despite the new premier league taking place in Miami, there are still plenty of Wings players heading overseas.

Let’s take a look at the six Wings players who will be taking their game internationally this offseason.

Sevgi Uzun Fenerbahce in Istanbul Turkey – After starting at point guard for the Wings in the majority of the season Sevgi Uzun will return to her native Turkey to play this offseason.

Uzun is a free agent this offseason and after averaging just 4.4 points and 3 assists, it’s unclear whether or not she will be back in Dallas next season.

Earlier this week Uzen won her second straight Super Cup Championship scoring 15 points with two assists and two steals in the final game.

Lou Lopez Senechal Jaris in Murcia Spain – Seeking to tune up her game after playing just 4.6 minutes a night in the WNBA Lou Lopez Senechal will head to Spain.

Lopez Senechal is someone who will almost certainly be available to the Golden State Valkyries in this offseason’s expansion draft if they choose to select her.

If the Mexico native does stay with the Wings, Dallas will look to find a more defined role for her after selecting her fifth overall in the 2023 draft.

Kalani Brown Inner Mongolia in Hohhot China – After spending last offseason in China, Kalani Brown is returning to the land of the Red Dragon.

It’ll be interesting to see if Brown is one of the six players the Wings choose to protect in the 2025 expansion draft.

Brown could be one of the first picks of the draft if she is not protected but if she does return to Dallas, she will have to be a key piece to the puzzle if the Wings want to return to the postseason.

Jaelyn Brown Dynamo Kursk in Kursk Russia – Jaelyn Brown will be heading to Russia to play for the same team that Arike Ogunbowale played for when she went overseas.

Brown missed 26 games during the 2024 season with an illness. In the Wings’ final game against the Aces, Brown had a career-high 15 points.

Greg Bibb and the front office will have a tough choice to make with as Brown enters free agency with such a small sample size.

Carla Leite Villeneuve in Villeneuve-d’Ascq, France – Leite was selected 9th overall in this most recent draft but did not play in the WNBA this season.

Leite will stay in her native country of France where she spent the summer during the Wings season.

If Leite comes over to Dallas in 2025, she will add to the point guard position that the Wings desperately need reinforcements at.

Awak Kuier: Reyer Venezia in Venice, Veneto – After opting out of the 2024 WNBA season Awak Kuier will be heading to Venice to play overseas once again.

The Wings will retain Kuier’s rights when she does decide to return to the WNBA and last season, Dallas could have desperately used her services.
