What Does Christian Walker Signing With The Astros Mean For The Rangers?
Rangers fans are familiar with Christian Walker.
In Game Three of the 2023 World Series, Walker rumbled through a stop sign at third base before he was gunned down by Adolis Garcia in right field giving the Rangers momentum to win the series in five games.
Now, they will get even more familiar with Walker as he will become their new rival for the next three seasons.
Walker and the Houston Astros have reportedly come to an agreement to a three-year 60 million dollar contract.
This deal comes as the Astros were looking for a solution at first base after the failed tenure of Jose Abreu.
Obviously, the Texas Rangers are more intrigued by what moves the Astros make and the signing of Walker says a lot about the future of their team.
Three years and 60 million for Walker almost certainly closes the door on a reunion with Alex Bregman.
Presumntivly losing Bregman combined with the loss of Kyle Tucker who was traded to the Cubs last week and all of a sudden, the Rangers won’t be seeing two familiar faces in the Houston lineup.
Signing Walker was something that the Astros needed to do in order to stay in contention but there is no doubt this team may be worse than the one they trotted out on the field last season.
With the Rangers looking for their first AL West title since 2016, the AL West is certainly wide open for the taking.
Stacking up the Rangers with the other teams in the American League West, you have to like their chances.
Bringing back the core of the lineup and a strong pitching rotation, the Rangers are arguably a few bullpen moves away from being the favorite.
