USMNT Strikes Deal With Mauricio Pochettino To Become Next Head Coach

The USMNT has found the head coach who will lead them into the ever-so-important 2026 World Cup cycle.

Former Tottenham, Paris Saint-Germain, and Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino has agreed to become the next head coach of the United States national team.

Multiple sources have confirmed the news, but the two parties have not signed a final agreement.

Sources have reported that Pochettino’s contract with Chelsea remains unsettled and until that is resolved, an agreement cannot be signed between him and the USMNT.

Pochettino and Chelsea parted ways after just one season which saw the Blues finish 6th in the Premier League.

Before leading the way at Stamford Bridge, Pochettino was at the helm of Tottenham where he led the Spurs to the final of both the League Cup and the Champions League as well as being the head coach of PSG where he led the French squad to the Ligue 1 title, Coupe de France and Trophee des Champions.

Reportedly, Mauricio Pochettino was a candidate to replace Gareth Southgate as England manager after he and the Three Lions parted ways following this summer’s euros.

Mauricio Pochettino will instantly become the most established manager the USMNT has ever hired and the pressure on him this cycle is pretty immense.

With the 2026 World Cup being held in the US and the pressure of the “Golden Generation” who seemingly hasn’t won much pressure is on Pochettino to come in and turn things around for the Stars and Stripes.
