USMNT Reportedly In Contact With Jürgen Klopp Follwing Greg Berhalter Firing

Despite not playing in the semi-finals of Copa America yesterday, the USMNT had the news of the soccer world.

Much to the delight of fans across the country, US Soccer announced that Head Coach Greg Berhalter was relieved of his duties effective immediately.

USA Soccer Sporting Director Matt Crocker said “Our immediate focus is finding a coach who can maximize our potential as we continue to prepare for the 2026 World Cup and we have already begun our search process”.

That search process has reportedly led to the Americans reaching out to a very popular candidate on the international soccer stage.

According to multiple sources, the USMNT has had discussions with recently retired Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp to become their next head coach.

Klopp mentioned that he was “running out of energy” when he announced his impending departure from Liverpool so coaching a national team could be something of interest to him.

“It’s out of the question that I’ll stop working altogether,” Klopp said. “But I don’t see myself continuing at the same pace as before at the moment.”

Financially, Kloop would demand much more than the 2 million Greg Berhalter made during the 2022 World Cup, to say that the US would be stopped by anything financial would be outlandish.

Jürgen Klopp would be inheriting a USMNT who is coming off an extremely disappointing Copa American performance where the Americans fell to both Panama and Uruguay while failing to make it out of the group stage as the host of a major tournament for the first time ever.

However, in a sense Klopp would be getting the “greatest” and the “Golden Generation” of US Soccer with the most players playing in Europe as the USMNT has ever seen.

The main problem of the “Golden Generation” is that they have failed to have major success on the international stage.

It all comes down to the question of “Can the US pry Jürgen Klopp away from his desire to be away from soccer? There is no doubt that many within USA Soccer feel as though they can
