Trick Williams, Roxanne Perez Hold Off “Mini-Invasion” at NXT Battleground
NXT gave wrestling fans a preview of what to expect at AEW’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view at the end of the month.
TNA Knockouts champion Jordynn Grace invaded NXT and challenged Roxanne Perez at Sunday’s NXT Battleground event at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Sunday night.
Grace had already appeared at the WWE Women’s Royal Rumble while toting the TNA belt, which was remarkable despite Mickie James also accomplishing the feat in 2022.
Roxanne Perez, the two-time NXT Women’s champion, defeated Grace after a distraction involving Dana Brooke (who is also with TNA now) and Tatum Paxley.
Trick Williams hung onto the NXT title by defeating “All Ego” Ethan Page in the main event. This match had a similar vibe as the women’s title match because Page used to wrestle in TNA and was a member of the AEW roster until recently.
NEW CHAMP, NEW TITLE
Kelani Jordan became the first NXT North American women’s champion in a six-way ladder match. She outlasted Sol Ruca, Jaida Parker. Michin, Fallon Henley, and Lash Legend.
Oba Femi continued his dominant run with the North American title. He won a Triple Threat match over Joe Coffey and Wes Lee by powerbombing both challengers.
Lola Vice won the MMA-style “Underground” match over Shayna Baszler, who not only is a member of the Raw roster but is also a former MMA fighter.
Nathan Frazier & Axiom also defeated main-roster competition. They retained the NXT tag team title with a win over The OC (Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson).
The next big NXT show on Peacock is Heatwave (a former ECW show!), which will take place in Toronto on July 7.
