Number 2 Ohio State Stomps Unranked Purdue, 45-0

On Saturday the 7-1 2nd ranked Ohio State Buckeyes hosted the 1-7 unranked Purdue Boilermakers. Ohio State was coming off a big win at Penn State in the week prior. Purdue has been struggling this season and they lost their previous game to the Northwestern Wildcats. Ohio State went into this game a 37.5-point favorite. The game was expected to be a dominant win for the Buckeyes.

The Ohio State Buckeyes did exactly what was expected of them. They completely out classed and outplayed the Purdue Boilermakers 45-0. Buckeyes quarterback Will Howard had an excellent game going 21 for 26, for 260 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions.  Howard also had a one-yard rushing touchdown in the game. Buckeyes running back TreVeyon Henderson had himself a game too with 6 rushes, for 85 yards, and 1 touchdown. Henderson had a rushing average of 14.2 yards per carry in the game. Ohio State also had a defensive touchdown scored. Ohio State linebacker Jack Sawyer recovered a Purdue fumble and returned it 11 yards for a touchdown. Any doubts of letdown after a big win against Penn State were put to rest in this game. But can the Buckeyes continue to roll next week?

Next week on November 16th, the 2nd ranked 8-1 Ohio State Buckeyes will travel to Chicago Illinois to play the unraked 4-5 Northwestern Wildcats. Northwestern is coming off their bye week and the game will be played at Wrigley Field in Chicago. This is a game that Ohio State can be expected to win and probably win big. But with Northwestern coming off their bye and a bigger game against 8th ranked Indiana looming on November 23rd. This could be a trap game for Ohio State. It is head coach Ryan Day’s job to make sure that doesn’t happen. Otherwise, the Indiana game will have a lot less meaning.
