Garland’s Last Second Shot Lifts Cavs Over The Pistons, 118-115

On Wednesday February 5th at 7 pm eastern time, the 40 -10 Cleveland Cavaliers traveled to the 25-25 Detroit Pistons at the Little Caesars Arena in downtown Detroit Michigan. The Cavaliers last game was a 112-105 loss to the Boston Celtics at home on Tuesday night. The Pistons last game was a 132-130 loss to the Atlanta Hawks in Detroit last Monday. Out for the Cavaliers was Dean Wade and Isaac Okoro. Donovan Mitchell did not play for rest from back-to-back games. The Pistons were without Jaden Ivey for this game. The Cavaliers were looking to bounce back with a road win against a divisional opponent.

In the first quarter the Cavaliers played like they were trying to rebound from the loss on the previous night. And after one quarter of play the Cavaliers led the Pistons 34-26. In the second quarter the Pistons played even and still trailed at halftime 65-56. In the third quarter the Pistons made a run and took a one-point lead late in the quarter. But The Cavaliers still led after three quarters of play 86-83. In the fourth and final quarter, the Cavaliers overcame a 32-point Detroit fourth quarter with a Darius Garland buzzer beating three point shot to beat the Pistons 118-115. The Cleveland Cavaliers are now 41-10.

The Cavaliers’ leading scorer was Evan Mobley with 30 points and 9 rebounds in 35 minutes of play. The hero of the game Darius Garland had 25 points in 32 minutes. Ty Jerome and Craig Porter contributed a combined 29 points off the bench in the win. Up next for the 41-10 Cleveland Cavaliers is a trip to our nation’s capital to play the 8-41 Washington Wizards on Friday February 7th at 7 PM eastern time, at the Capital One Arena. This matchup looks to be another Cavaliers road win. But in the NBA a win is never given it has to be earned.
