On October 1st,2024, the Cleveland Cavaliers opened their 2024 training camp at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. With changes made to the teams coaching staff and star players signed to long term contracts. Cleveland Cavaliers fans have a sense of optimism that isn’t misguided. Last season the team won its first playoff series without Lebron James since 1993. Some believed that if the team was healthier, they could have eliminated the Boston Celtics in eastern conference semifinals. The Celtics went on to win the 2024 NBA Championship. It is believed that a healthy Cavaliers team is a dangerous team.

Cavaliers All Star Guard Donovan Mitchell said himself that “the Cleveland Cavaliers are a championship team when healthy”. He said this to the media on the first day of training camp. He recently signed a long-term contract extension with then team this offseason. Along with Evan Mobley and Jarret Allen being extended. The Cleveland Cavaliers have an excellent young core of players. And the change at head coach from JB Bickerstaff to Kenny Atkinson has the team believing in what they could accomplish. Fans will have a chance to preview this team in action starting on Tuesday October 8th.

Next Tuesday October 8th ,2024, the Cleveland Cavaliers will host the Chicago Bulls for their first preseason game of the 2024 season. Tipoff will be at 7 pm eastern time. Most of the time fans and experts do not take too much stock in exhibition season games. However, with a new coach and a new system in place. Cleveland Cavaliers fans have reasons to watch and see what this team’s full potential may be for the 2024/2025 season. I for one will watch for execution and continuity. Will this team have smooth transition with the new coach and his system? The preseason can give us an idea to the answer to that question. Because the true test begins on October 23rd when the Cavaliers travel to Toronto to open the season against the Raptors.
