Cavs Sting the Hornets, 115-105

On Sunday January 5th at 6 pm eastern time, the 30-4 Cleveland Cavaliers hosted the 7-26 Charlotte Hornets at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in downtown Cleveland Ohio. The Cavaliers last game was another impressive 134-122 win in Dallas against the Dallas Mavericks last Friday night. The Hornets last game was a 98-94 loss in Detroit to the Detroit Pistons last Friday night as well. Out for the Cavaliers were Isaac Okoro and Emoni Bates. The Hornets had LaMelo Ball play despite being questionable with his wrist injury. And they were without Grant Williams and Tre Mann. The Cavaliers were expected to add to their NBA best’s record of 30-4, and they did not disappoint their home fans after going 4-0 on a west coast road swing.

The Cavaliers showed no signs of being jet lagged, they led after the first quarter of the play 29-23. The Cavaliers continued to pour it on the Hornets in the second quarter and led at halftime 63-48. The Hornets came on strong in third quarter, but the Cavaliers kept up the pace and led going into the fourth quarter 91-78. After an early run in the fourth quarter the Cavaliers coasted to a 115-105 win. The 31-4 Cleveland Cavaliers still have the best record in the NBA.

The Cavaliers’ leading scorer was Darius Garland with 25 points in 29 minutes. Jarrett Allen had another double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds in 28 minutes of play. Team basketball is exemplified with this Cavaliers team. They had five players with double digits in scoring. Up next for the 31-4 Cleveland Cavaliers is hosting the Western Conference leading 30-5 Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday January 8th at 7 pm eastern time at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Many NBA pundits and experts feel that this upcoming game can be a 2025 NBA Finals preview. It may still be too early to tell, but it will be fun to watch two of the NBA’s best teams play each other.
