Cavs Roll Past the Heat, 126-106
On Wednesday January 29th at 7:30 pm eastern time, the 37-9 Cleveland Cavaliers traveled to Miami Florida to play the 23-22 Miami Heat at the Kaseya Center. The Cavaliers last game was a 110–91 win at home over the Detroit Pistons. The Heat’s last game was a 125-119 overtime win at Miami over the Orlando Magic last Monday too. Out for the Cavaliers was Darius Garland, Dean Wade, Isaac Okoro, and Caris LeVert. Miami suspended Jimmy Butler last week indefinitely, they were also without Josh Richardson and Dru Smith. After the Cavaliers ended their three-game losing streak last Monday, they are looking to build upon that win and start another winning streak.
In the first quarter the Cavaliers outplayed the Heat and led after the one quarter of play 31-21. In the second quarter the Cavaliers added to their lead and pulled away from the Heat. At halftime the Cavaliers led the Heat by a score of 59-41. In the third quarter Miami did make a run, but the Cavaliers still led at the end of the quarter 94-84. In the fourth and final quarter the Cavaliers pulled away to close out the game and win their 38th game of the season 126-106.
The Cavalier’s leading scorer was Donovan Mitchell with 34 points in 30 minutes. Both Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley had double-doubles. Allen recorded 12 points and 10 rebounds in 29 minutes of play. Mobley had 22 points and 15 rebounds in 31 minutes of play. All three of these key starters stepped up in this win with the absence of Darius Garland. Up next for the 38-9 Cleveland Cavaliers is hosting the 22-25 Atlanta Hawks at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse Thursday January 30th at 7 pm eastern time. The Cavaliers have yet to beat the Hawks this season, Thursday night is a good time to start.
