Cavs Put Away Nuggets, 126-114

On Thursday December 5th the 19-3 Cleveland Cavaliers hosted the 11-8 Denver Nuggets at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in downtown Cleveland Ohio. The Cavaliers last game was 118-87 blowout win at home against the Washington Wizards on December 3rd. Denver’s previous game was 119-115 win in Denver against the Golden State Warriors last Tuesday night. Max Strus and Emoni Bates were both out and Ty Jerome was questionable with an illness for the Cavaliers. Out for Denver was Vlatko Cancar and DaRon Holmes II, Aron Gordon was probable with a calf injury. The Cavaliers were going for their 20th win of the season and their 13th win at home. Will the Cavaliers dominance on their home court continue?

The game started with the usual pace for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and they outscored the Nuggets to lead at the end of the first quarter 37-27. The Nuggets fought back in the second quarter to come within two points of Cleveland. But the Cavaliers were able to lead at halftime 66-62. The third quarter had the Cavaliers build onto their lead over the Nuggets and led at the end of the quarter by score of 102-87. In the fourth quarter the Cavaliers kept up the pace to maintain their lead. And the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Denver Nuggets for their 20th win of the season by a score of 126-114.

The Cavaliers’ leading scorer was Donovan Mitchell with 28 points in 33 minutes of play. Jarrett Allen led the team in rebounding with 15 in 35 minutes. Up next for this 20-3 Cavaliers team is traveling to Charlotte North Carolina to play the 6-15 Hornets on Saturday December 7th, at 1pm EST at the Spectrum Center. This is the first of a two-game weekend road trip for Cleveland. And Saturday’s game could be a trap game for this team. Let’s hope the Cavaliers don’t let that happen.
