Cavs Overtaken by Heat, 122-113

On Sunday December 8th the 21-3 Cleveland Cavaliers traveled to Miami Florida to play the 11-10 Miami Heat at the Kaseya Center. Cleveland’s last game was a 116-102 win In Charlotte North Carolina last Saturday afternoon. Miami’s last game was a 121-111 win last Saturday at home against the Phoenix Suns. Out for the Cavaliers were Max Strus, Isaac Okoro. Craig Porter Jr, and Emoni Bates. For Miami Jimmy Butler was listed as probable and Pelle Larsson was out for the game. Butler did play in the game. The Cavaliers were trying for a weekend road series sweep and their 22nd win of the 2024 / 2025 season. Could they keep the momentum going in Miami?

After a slow start, the Cavaliers recovered quickly to lead at the end of the first quarter 25-21. The Heat outscored the Cavaliers in the second quarter 38-26. And the Miami Heat led the Cleveland Cavaliers by a score of 59-51 at halftime. In the third quarter the Heat outscored the Cavaliers 31-29. And the Heat added to their lead going into the fourth quarter and led 90-80. In the fourth quarter it was dead even from the start. Miami maintained their double-digit lead and defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 122-113. The Cavaliers record now falls to 21-4.

The leading scorer for the Cavaliers was Darius Garland with 23 points in 32 minutes. The Cavaliers did have 7 players with double digit scoring in a losing effort. Up next for the 21-4 Cavaliers is at home against the 3-18 Washington Wizards on Friday December 13th at 7pm eastern at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. With it being Friday the 13th, Cavaliers fans are hoping that their teams’ luck won’t run out on their record at home.
