Cavs lose to the Celtics, 112-105

On Tuesday February 4th 7:30 pm eastern time, the 40-9 Cleveland Cavaliers hosted the defending world champion 35-15 Boston Celtics at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in downtown Cleveland Ohio. The Cavaliers last game was 144-101 shellacking of the Dallas Mavericks at home last Sunday. The Celtics last game was a 118-110 win at Philadelphia over the 76ers last Sunday as well. Out for the Cavaliers was Dean Wade and Isaac Okoro. The Celtics were without JD Davison and Anton Watson. This game is considered to be a preview of the Eastern Conference Finals, the Cavaliers and Celtics are also considered to be the two best teams in the Eastern Conference.

The Celtics clearly outplayed the Cavaliers in the first quarter and led at the end of the quarter 28-15. The Cavaliers continued to struggle early in the second quarter on offense. But they came back to life to cut into the Celtics lead and trailed at halftime 54-44. In the third quarter the Celtics were able to maintain their lead over the Cavaliers and led after the third quarter 87-75. In the fourth and final quarter the Cavaliers came within four points with less than four minutes to go in the game. But the Celtics were able to pull away and win the game 112-105. The Cleveland Cavaliers are now 40-10.

The leading scorer for the Cavaliers was Donovan Mitchell with 31 points in 36 minutes. He also had 10 rebounds to earn a double-double. Jarett Allen also earned a double-double with 17 points and 18 rebounds in 33 minutes of play. Up next for the 40-10 Cleveland Cavaliers is hosting the 25-25 Detroit Pistons on Wednesday February 5th at 7 pm eastern time, at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in downtown Cleveland Ohio. Cavaliers’ fans are hoping for a bounce back game, and they won’t have to wait too long for it on Wednesday night.
