Cavs lose 2nd Preseason Game to Pacers, 129-117
On Thursday October 10, 2024, at 7 pm eastern at the Rocket Mortgage Field House, the Cleveland Cavaliers fell to the Indiana Pacers by a score of 129-117. This was the Cavaliers second preseason game of 2024. And the loss gives the Cleveland Cavaliers a preseason record of 0-2. The high scoring game is a usual result of preseason basketball in the NBA. Even though the defense in the game was lacking there are other things to watch for as a Cleveland Cavaliers fan.
Keep in mind that starters Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and Darius Garland did not play in this game. That gave an opportunity for Cavaliers fans to see the younger developmental players play in live game action. The Cavaliers’ leading scorer was guard Ty Jerome with 15 points in 23 minutes. Ty Jerome joined the Cavaliers last season as a free agent guard from the Golden State Warriors. Point Guard Craig Porter Junior was right behind Jerome with 14 points and 4 assists in 24 game minutes. The former Wichita State product joined the Cleveland Cavaliers as an undrafted free agent in 2023. Cavaliers starting center Jarett Allen got valuable minutes by scoring 13 points in 15 minutes of play. The obvious question now is what is next for the Cleveland Cavaliers?
On Wednesday October 16 ,2024, the Cleveland Cavaliers will travel to Detroit Michigan to play the Detroit Pistons for the 3rd preseason game of 2024. Tipoff is at 7 pm eastern time and the game will be played at the Little Caesars Arena. Again, I don’t put a lot of stock into the final score of preseason games. However, I look for execution and production in exhibition season. And a positive for me is to see 117 points scored without 3 starters. To me that is a good sign of things to come for the 2024 / 2025 season.
