Cavs Destroy the Nets, 130-101
On Monday December 16th the 22-4 Cleveland Cavaliers travel to Brooklyn New York to play the 10-15 Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center. The Cavaliers last game was a 115-105 win at home against the Washington Wizards last Friday night. The Nets lost their previous game at Memphis against the Grizzlies 135-119 last Friday as well. The Cavaliers are getting close to full strength with Evan Mobley being listed as probable before the game. He did play that night. Max Struss was sidelined for the evening; the Cavaliers are being cautious on his return from an ankle injury. The Nets were without Cam Thomas, Bojan Bogdanovic, Ziarre Williams, and D ‘Anthony Melton for the game. The Cavaliers were trying to win their 23rd game of the season and maintain their top seed in the Eastern Conference.
In the first quarter the Cavaliers completely outplayed the Nets and led at the end of the quarter 37-17. The Cavalier onslaught over the Nets continued in the second quarter. The Nets were outscored by the Cavaliers 35-23. And the Cavaliers led the Nets 72-40 at halftime. In the third quarter the Brooklyn tried to come back and outscored Cleveland 37-32. After the third quarter Cleveland led the Nets 104-77. The Cavaliers kept up the pace in the fourth quarter besting the Nets 26-24. The final score in Brooklyn New York was the Cleveland Cavaliers 130 and the Brooklyn Nets 101.
Cleveland’s leading scorer was Evan Mobley with 21 points in 23 minutes of play. The Cavaliers had seven different players with double digit scoring. This win was an overall team effort. Up next for the 23-4 Cleveland Cavaliers is hosting the 14-11 Milwaukee Bucks on Friday December 20th at 7:30 pm eastern time at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in downtown Cleveland Ohio. This Cavaliers team is on pace to win 70 games this season. Can they keep that pace up on Friday night? We will find out and so will the Milwaukee Bucks.
