Cavs Comeback Falls Short to Rockets, 109-108
On Wednesday January 22nd at 8pm eastern time, the 36-6 Cleveland Cavaliers traveled to Houston Texas to take on the 28-14 Houston Rockets, at the Toyota Center. The Cavaliers last game was a win last Monday over the Phoenix Suns 118-92. The Rockets last game was last Monday as well in Houston, they lost to the Detroit Pistons 107-96. Out for the Cavaliers were Isaac Okoro and Evan Mobley, Caris LeVert was listed as questionable with a wrist injury. LeVert did not play. Out for the Rockets was Jabari Smith Jr. with a left metacarpal fracture. This was a test for the shorthanded Cavaliers on the road against the second-best team in the Western Conference.
The game started at a high pace with scoring for both teams. After the first quarter was completed, the Cavaliers trailed the Rockets 39-32. The Cavaliers opened the second quarter with a 8-2 run. But Houston came back and led at halftime 61-53. In the third quarter the Rockets added to their lead and led going into the fourth quarter 94-83. In the fourth and final quarter, the Cavaliers opened with an 18-4 run. But the Rockets held on to give the Cavaliers their 7th loss of the season 109-108.
The Cavaliers’ leading scorer was Darius Garland with 26 points in 35 minutes. Jarett Allen had another double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds in 32 minutes of play. Up next for the 36-7 Cleveland Cavaliers is a trip to the city of brotherly love Philadelphia Pennsylvania to take on the 15-27 Philadelphia 76ers. The game is on Friday January 24th ,2025, 7 pm eastern time, at the Wells Fargo Center. This can be another rebound game opportunity for this Cavaliers team, it will also help if the team gets healthier sooner rather than later.
