Browns Way Too Early 53-Man Roster Prediction, Post Draft

The Cleveland Browns just concluded their first rookie training camp of 2024. They’ve signed five of their six drafted players (second-round pick Michael Hall hasn’t signed yet) and seven undrafted rookie free agents. These players are starting their path to play in the NFL. Between now and the beginning of the season, their goal will be to make an NFL 53-man roster, whether it be with the Browns or another team. Here’s my way to early 53-man roster prediction with practice squad.

Quarterback (2). Deshaun Watson, Jameis Winston. Tyler Hunley is traded and Dorian Thompson-Robinson to the practice squad as the emergency third-string QB.

Running Back (3). Jerome Ford, Nyheim Hines, D’Onta Foreman. Nick Chubb placed on the PUP list, Aidan Robbins and John Kelly to the practice squad.

Wide Receiver (6). Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy, Elijah Moore, David Bell, Cedric Tillman, James Thrash. Ahmarean Brown and James Proche to the practice squad.

Tight End (2). David Njoku, Jordan Akins. Treyton Welch and Giovanni Ricci to the practice squad.

Offensive Tackle (4) Jedrick Wills, Jack Conklin, Dawand Jones, Hakeem Adeniji. Germain Ifedi and Lorenzo Thompson to the practice squad.

Guard (4). Joel Bitonio, Wyatt Teller, Zak Zinter, Micheal Dunn. Javion Cohen to the practice squad.

Center (2). Ethan Pocic, Luke Wypler. No centers on the practice squad because Dunn is the emergency third center.

Edge (5). Myles Garrett, Za’Darius Smith, Ogbo Okoronkwo, Alex Wright, Isaiah McGuire. Sam Kamara to the practice squad.

Defensive Tackle (6). Dalvin Tomlinson, Michael Hall, Siaki Ika, Quinton Jefferson, Shelby Harris, Maurice Hurst. Jowon Briggs to the practice squad.

Linebacker (5). Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Jordan Hicks, Devin Bush, Nathaniel Watson, Tony Fields. Mohamoud Diabate and Winston Reid to the practice squad.

Cornerbacks (6). Denzel Ward, Martin Emerson, Greg Newsome, Carmeron Mitchell, Tony Brown, Justin Hardee. Myles Harden to the practice squad.

Safety (5). Grant Delpit, Juan Thornhill, Rodney McLeod, Ronnie Hickman, D’Anthony Bell.

Special Teams (3). Dustin Hopkins, Corey Bojorquez, Charlie Hughlett. Cade York to the practice squad.

My prediction for this roster is defensive heavy, especially the defensive line. This allows defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz to use multiple combinations to stop the run and pressure the quarterback. The extra defensive back is specifically for the new kick-off rule. On offense, because of the change of offense, I feel the Browns will decrease the need for a third tight end and go with offensive weapons who can run after the catch.
