Browns strengthen WR room with trade for Broncos Jerry Jeudy
Andrew Berry strikes again. On the eve of the NFL free agency frenzy starting this week, the Cleveland Browns GM made a trade for Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy. The Browns have been tied to Jeudy for a couple of seasons as the high-profile and former 1st round pick was often in conversations involving trades. In Denver, Jeudy never accomplished as much as some had hoped but he still showed signs of his potential over the last four seasons.
Now the Browns will get an opportunity to find out if he’ll be the guy to pair with Amari Cooper and be that one-two punch for an offense that needs a bit more spark. Cooper had a career season in Cleveland this past one and the former Alabama collegiate star will have another former Crimson Tide wide receiver in Jeudy now to play alongside.
The Browns gave up only a 5th and 6th round 2024 draft pick to acquire the Broncos wideout. That seems like a steal and a high-reward low-risk move. The Browns and Berry made similar moves in the past to get Cooper and also Elijah Moore last off season. With Cooper, Moore and Jeudy your new trio of veterans going into the 2024 campaign, it certainly feels like Cleveland quarterback Deshaun Watson will have some great weapons on offense. You add in tight end David Njoku and the return of running back Nick Chubb and the Browns offense could be unstoppable.

Jeudy is entering his fourth season and is due just south of $13 million and could become a free agent in 2025. Knowing how Berry likes to work deals, I’d imagine that Jeudy will play out this season and Berry will be ready to strike up a new deal prior to his free agent label.
Obviously, if things don’t go as hoped by the Browns and Jeudy, they could go their separate ways after the season. However, I don’t get that feeling considering Jeudy is still so young at the age of 24.
Jeudy had a decorated collegiate career at Alabama prior to his NFL career. In his last two seasons at Alabama, he had 2,478 yards on 145 receptions and 24 touchdowns. He was taken at No. 15 overall in the 2020 draft. His time in Denver was good but nothing spectacular. He collected 3,053 yards on 211 catches and had 11 touchdowns in his four seasons. As we said before, this move is really a win-win for both sides. The Browns need another good receiver and Jeudy needs to still prove himself in the league.
Now, Berry will turn his attention to the free agency frenzy and I’m certain we’re going to get a player or two that will make a splash. I’d also not be surprised if Berry has another trade up his sleeve especially after the first wave of free agency commences this week.
