Browns Fans, It’s Okay to Like Taylor Swift

Regardless of whether you are taking sides for the Kansas City Chiefs or San Francisco 49ers for the Super Bowl, it’s okay for Browns fans to like Taylor Swift. How do we know? Bernie Kosar, who many Browns fans have met through Browns Backers and other activities, told us so.  Bernie, you see, was the childhood idol of both Travis and Jason Kelce.

Bernie’s scouting report on Taylor is favorable. He told Audacy’s AM 560 Sports WQAM, “Taylor is so nice, she comes in by herself and she’s so cool, she made her homemade cinnamon rolls for Travis for pregame meal. Her genuine attention to people, in paying attention and consideration was just spectacular to watch. You couldn’t have a better role model.””

Kansas City is not the favorite team for Browns fans after ending the Super Bowl hopes of the 2020 Browns on a blown non-call on a great helmet-to-helmet hit on Rashard Higgins that caused him to fumble through the end zone.

Curiously, the Browns are tied to Kansas City and Patrick Mahomes because John Dorsey, who later became the General Manager of the Browns, was the guy who drafted Mahomes, which was one of the reasons he was fired. Why draft a “system quarterback” when you have a proven star in Alex Smith?  He further had the audacity to draft Kevin Hogan, who the team waived (and whereupon he was claimed by the Browns) thus wasting a draft pick.  Mr. Dorsey, you are fired! Off to Cleveland, you quarterback loving maniac!

Truthfully, however, any team that beats Baltimore has earned our undying gratitude.  The wounds have mainly scarred over, but we still remember that Art Modell committed the worst sports atrocity of all time by taking the Cleveland Browns and moving them to Baltimore.

Yet there are reasons to like the San Francisco 49ers as well. They are coached by Kyle Shanahan, who, as Browns Offensive Coordinator, stood up to Jimmy Haslam III and offered some constructive criticism on the role of ownership (so, of course, he had to leave). That was 2014, at the height of the Johnny Manziel era. It might very well be that Shanahan’s advice was followed, as the Haslams have come much better owners the past few years, by most accounts. In addition, Steve Wilks, the defensive coordinator for the 49ers, held the same position in 2019 in the fabulous Freddie Kitchens regime. Safety Tashaun Gipson who made the Pro Bowl with the Browns, is still going strong.

49ers President Al Guido, for his part, says that the romance between Taylor and Travis is “fantastic for the NFL” and credits both of them for bringing new fans to the NFL.
