Browns fans are currently trying to speculate which players will be selected in the 2024 NFL draft. National and local Cleveland writers are pushing their thoughts on the Browns most important positional need. While some of this makes for great reading and listening, most don’t consider the current state of the Browns roster. If quarterback Deshaun Watson was healthy, the Browns could put a complete 53-man roster on a field today. Even if Watson wasn’t healthy, they could still do it. If you draft a player at a certain position, who on this roster is going to get cut? Based on Andrew Berry’s past draft strategy and opening day rosters, the Browns final 53- man roster might look like this:

Quarterback (3). Deshawn Watson, Jameis Winston, DTR or draft pick. It all depends on the health of DTR. The Browns have shown interest in three QB’s in this draft, Bo Nix, Joe Milton and Michael Pratt. Tyler Hunley could be moved to the practice squad; I expect him to be traded.

Running Back (3). D’Onta Freeman, Jerome Ford, Nyheim Hines. Nick Chubb will probably start the season on the PUP list.

Wide Receiver (6). Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy, Elijah Moore, David Bell, Cedric Tillman, draft pick. This is a position in the draft I expect a player to be chosen, probably with pick 85.

Tight End (3). David Njoku, Jordan Akins, draft pick or free agent. The Browns could still sign a veteran, cut Akins and still draft a third tight end.

Offensive Tackle (4). Jedrick Wills, Jack Conklin, Dawand Jones, draft pick. If the right player drops to pick 54, that will be the pick.

Offensive Guard (3). Joel Bitonio, Wyatt Teller, Michael Dunn. Will probably bring in a player to compete with Deaton Dawson.

Center (2). Ethan Pocic, Luke Wypler. Might bring in a practice squad player.

Defense End (5). Myles Garrett, Za’Darius Smith, Alex Wright, Odbo Okoronkwo, Isaiah McGuire. It depends on what they think of McGuire’s progress.

Defensive Tackle (5). Delvin Tomlinson, Quinton Jefferson, Siaki Ika, Shelby Harris, Mo Hurst. Set unless there are injuries.

Linebacker (5). Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Jordan Hicks, Devin Bush, Tony Fields, Mohamoud Diabate or draft pick. It comes down to the development of Diabate, but an upgrade via a draft pick would not surprise me.

Cornerback (6). Denzel Ward, Martin Emerson, Greg Newsome, Carmeron Michell, Tony Brown, Justin Hardee. Set unless there are injuries.

Safety (5). Grant Delpit, Juan Thornhill, Rodney McLeod, Ronnie Hickman, D’Anthony Bell. Set unless there are injuries.

Specialist (3). Dustin Hopkins, Cory Bojorquez, Charlie Hughlett. Set.

When trying to predict which direction the Browns are going to go in the draft, it’s always smart to step back and look at the entire roster.
