The Good, The Bad, and The Spotty: Radiers Sink Jags, 19-14
The Jacksonville Jaguars and Las Vegas Raiders both have fan bases already looking into next year. These squads looked to battle for bragging rights as a top pick in the NFL Draft rests in the balance of the outcome. The Raiders broke the 10-game losing streak with a 19-14 result.
The Good
The Jaguars defense didn’t allow a 3rd down conversion in the first half of the game. For the evening, the squad stopped nine 3rd down attempts and forced a kick from the Raiders including a missed field goal that kept the game within a score heading into the final quarter. That was in part due to contributions from the defensive tackle position. Arik Armstead and rookie Maason both contributed sacks and held the Las Vegas run game to 26 yards on 22 carries.
Rookie wide receiver and Pro Bowl candidate Brian Thomas Jr. clinches a 1,000-yard season with his score that gave the Jags their second lead of the game backing it 14-13. He already holds the Jags rookie record for touchdown receptions with nine and became the first Jag to make that mark. He recorded 139 yards on nine catches with a touchdown and a 62-yard completion.
The Bad
A few weeks removed from signing a big extension with Jacksonville, the Duval Devout sees another injury suffered by Walker Little. The offensive line woes have been tough for the Jags to manage and injuries have been a big part of it. That’s not where the injury woes ended as Darnell Savage left the game on concussion protocol.
Running back Tank Bigsby did have the points of the game with a touchdown, but fumbling the football away for his first one lost was absolute murder when the Jaguars were down 13-7 with 4:00 left in the half. Then before halftime, tight end Brenton Strange filling in for Evan Engam lost another one hoping to reduce it to 13-10. Going into this game, Vegas only had one fumble recovery on the year. They now have three in 2024.
The Spotty
K’Lavon Chaisson recorded a sack a tackle for loss, and a pass defended. The former Jaguar has had more of an impact in Las Vegas than he ever was in Duval County.
