The Good, The Bad, and The Spotty: Jags Paddle Patriots in London, 32-16

After the spanking the Jacksonville Jaguars took from the Chicago Bears in London last week, they bounced back on the football field to dominate the struggling New England Patriots, 32-16. It may be hard to find something bad for this game, but this is the “most good” the Duval Devout have seen all season as they extend New England’s losing streak to the longest under Robert Kraft’s ownership.

The Good

The metamorphosis of Tank Bigsby is insane. From being a walking turnover last season to a viable starting option in the absence of the injured Travis Etienne is the ultimate in turnarounds. He finished with 118 yards on 26 carries with two touchdowns. Those numbers feature Bigby’s 2nd 100-yard game in his career.

How about Parker Washington getting a score on special teams? 96 yards to the house on a punt return was the potential that Jacksonville fans saw in the preseason brought to life as the longest punt return in London AND the franchise’s history. This contributed to the Jags also delivering their highest point total in a second quarter in Jaguars history.

Quarterback Trevor Lawrence and rookie sensation wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. connecting on a 58-yard bomb as well as on a six-yard touchdown in what might be Lawrence’s cleanest game of the year was the essential element they needed to make their attack balanced.

The Bad

A lot of people would like for me to say that the Jaguars running the ball 17 times straight late in the game should be listed here — they are wrong. What I think is bad is that this game is a clear example of not just a “should-win” game, but more of a “you had BETTER win this” game. The upcoming schedule for the Jags starts a gauntlet next week with the Green Bay Packers in Duval, the Eagles in Philly, the Minnesota Vikings in Duval, and the Lions in Detroit. The road to the bye week is riddled with speed bumps.

The Spotty

The most Jaguars thing of all time might just be finding their fan base in talk and excitement on social media and beyond about the prospect of drafting Travis Hunter out of Colorado only to see them put New England in the driver’s seat to get a higher pick than them in the upcoming draft. With New England also having freshly drafted Drake Maye this year, the chances of them being an obvious quarterback selection early in the draft are reduced. If Hunter is pulled from the board at Lambeau Field in April, the Duval Devout will wave their fist at this game in infamy.
