That’s More Like It: Cleveland Guardians Pound Texas Rangers 13-5
Cleveland’s offense needed a massive energy boost on offense, and the Guardians delivered a monster victory last night.
Jhonkensy Noel, Jose Ramirez, Josh Naylor, and Bo Naylor all homered in a 13-5 win over the Texas Rangers at Progressive Field.
The defending World Series champions, who are 60-70 this year, scored a run in the first. But Cleveland piled up 11 runs to make winner out of Ben Lively (11-8).
LIGHT THE FUSE
Josh Naylor tied the game with a run-scoring grounder in the first.
Steven Kwan, who had been struggling at the plate, hit a two-run single in the second. He scored on a single by Andres Gimenez to put Cleveland up 4-1.
Cleveland added four more runs in the third. Noel blasted a three-run, 405-foot blast to the home run porch in left field.
Before the inning ended, the Guardians loaded the bases and scored on a walk by Kwan.
Back-to-back homers by Ramirez (No. 33) and Josh Naylor (No. 28) gave Cleveland a 10-1 lead.
Texas scored twice in the seventh, but Bo Naylor hit his 10th homer of the season in the bottom of the inning to make the score 12-3.
Will Brennan completed the scoring for the Guardians with a single to score Lane Thomas in the eighth.
