Texas Rangers End Of Season Awards – Rookie Of The Year
With the Texas Rangers not qualifying for the postseason, looking back on a disappointing 2024 season is underway.
Despite the Rangers’ 78-84 record there were still plenty of positives to pull from a season that failed to meet expectations.
Let’s hand out some Rangers awards to see which Texas players made the most of a rough 2024 season.
Rookie Of The Year – Wyatt Langford
Wyatt Langford is a slam dunk for Rangers Rookie of the Year after a strong first season which saw him play in 134 games.
Langford could very well be a finalist for the actual AL Rookie Of The Year award after slashing .253/.325/.415 with 16 home runs and 74 RBI.
Back in March. Langford tore up Spring Training amidst the debate of whether or not he should make the big league time coming out of camp.
Putting Langford with the big club proved to be a smart choice by Chris Young and the front office.
Throughout the season, we saw Langford’s development on full display as he seemingly got better as the season went on.
In September, Langford hit .300 with 8 home runs and 20 RBI to become the first Ranger to ever win the Rookie and Player of the Month in the same month.
We saw Langford come up huge in a lot of clutch moments as he delivered three walk-off hits including a game-winning grand slam against the Yankees on September 3rd.
A true five-tool player, Langford showcased the ability to play every phase of the game down the stretch
There is no doubt that Wyatt Langford is going to be a really good player for a long time in a Texas Rangers uniform.
If Evan Carter can play the way he did in 2023, the Rangers will have one of if not the best young outfield duos in all of baseball.
