Texans Stefon Diggs Out For Year With Torn ACL
The Houston Texans suffered a major loss in Sunday afternoon’s 23-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts.
Superstar wide receiver Stefon Diggs went down with a non-contact knee injury after cutting inside on a route.
Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans announced Tuesday that Diggs will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL.
Diggs was acquired by Houston from the Buffalo Bills this offseason in exchange for a 2025 second-round pick.
When he was acquired by Houston, the Texans agreed to wipe the final three years on his contract making him a free agent after this season.
In eight games this season, Diggs has 229 receiving yards and two touchdowns one of which coming Sunday against the Colts.
Since Nico Collins has been out since Week Five, Diggs has been the Texans’ number-one wide receiver.
Collins could be returning as soon as next week when the Texans take on the Lions in their second Sunday Night Football game of the year.
In the meantime, Houston will have to find a way to take down the New York Jets without Diggs and Collins.
Tank Dell will take over as Texans wide receiver number one after seeing his touches dip in his second season.
Expect Xavier Hutchinson to also have an opportunity to make a statement on Thursday night in primetime.
One week is left until the NFL’s Trade Deadline so with the news of Diggs being out, Houston could dip into the market to find some depth at wide receiver.
