Texans DT Mario Edwards Suspended Four Games

The Houston Texans will be without one of its interior defensive lineman for the next four contests.

On Monday, the NFL announced that it has suspended Mario Edwards four games without pay after he was found in violation of the league’s substance abuse policy.

Edwards will be eligible to return on November 11th, one week from when the Texans get set to travel to Dallas to take on the Cowboys on Monday night football.

So far this season, Edwards has started all six Texans games recording two sacks and two tackles for loss.

In the offseason, Edwards signed a one year deal to join the Texans after spending time in Oakland, Chicago, New York, Seattle, New Orleans, and Tennessee throughout his now ten year NFL career.

Houston should be able to withstand the suspension as they will be getting another suspended interior defensive lineman back this week.

Denico Autry will return this week after serving a six game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy against performance-enhancing substances.

Autry, who signed a 2 year $20 million deal with the Texans this offseason, recorded a career-high 11.5 sacks last season with the Titans.

Sources have confirmed that Autry has been working out at the Texans facility and has remained in game shape.

The Texans hit the road once again this week as they travel to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers.
