Browns Quarterback Room: We Like Flacco, but Browns Still Need Emergency QB

Quarterback room does not have enough healthy bodies in it to handle an emergency. They needed to add someone to the roster when Deshaun came up with a bum shoulder, but instead they just HOPED that Deshaun would be completely healthy, and that 203 pound Dorian Thompson Robinson could carry the rest of the load if called upon. NOW they realize that they need someone else, and went after oft-injured, 38 year old Joe Flacco. Well, that’s cool, but they should still sign one more guy to the Practice Squad, and all this should have been done months ago rather than wait for Deshaun to go down and DTR to have a concussion.

Why the Cleveland Browns will Extend Deshaun Watson’s Contract

Yes, teams are overpaying quarterbacks like never before. No it is not business as usual. As a percentage of cap, Deshaun Watson is currently scheduled for a cap hit of 25% of the 2024 cap allowance. That’s way beyond the 17.2% the Chiefs paid Patrick Mahomes to win the Super Bowl last year. Prior to that no team had ever won the Super Bowl spending more than 13.1% of its cap allowance on a qb since the cap system was put in place in 1994.

Let’s Stop Flaccomania Before it Starts!

Stop hoping for the demise of the Browns young quarterbacks and praying for the installation of a slow, oft-injured old man as the Browns starter. Only the New York Jets think this is a good idea. Joe Flacco is not Aaron Rodgers Lite with all the great taste and half the calories. Dorian Thompson-Robinson gives the Browns the best chance to win.

Around the AFC North: Week 11

It was a brutal start to the week for the AFC North on Thursday Night Football. The Baltimore Ravens beat the Cincinnati Bengals 34-20, but the Ravens lost Mark Andrews to a season-ending ankle injury in the process. The injury to Andrew was not the only major injury of the night. Joe Burrow also exited… read more

Browns may be making a QB problem into a crisis

What really sucks is that the Browns have not bothered to have an extra backup on the practice squad, even though they knew that Watson was struggling with shoulder issues. That, dear friends, was simply stupid.

Around the AFC North: Week 10

Things are wild in the AFC North. The Cleveland Browns knocked off the Baltimore Ravens 33-31 in Baltimore on Sunday. That game featured 38 total points in the second half. 24 of those points were scored by the Browns who trailed 20-6 at halftime. Cleveland did not punt in the second half and got a… read more
