Chicago broke its four-game losing streak by plating four runs in the ninth inning. Garrett Crochet pitched four solid innings and reliever Fraser Ellard earned his first win.

This Week in Winston-Salem Dash Baseball (August 14-20)

After starting off with a dominant pitching performance to beat Jersey Shore on last Wednesday, the Dash suffered a setback, finishing the week 1-5. Overall, the offense did not pull its weight, only scoring 10 runs during these six games. It appeared that the Dash might pull themselves to the .500 mark on the season with a strong week, but that did not happen.

Sox Populi White Sox Player of the Week (August 8-16): Grady Sizemore

Now, at the rate Grady’s Boys are still losing, Sizemore may not be not-Grifol for much longer. But for the moment, let’s enjoy what we have, while we have it.

White Sox Minor League Player of the Week (August 12-18): Rafael Ortega

The DSL White Sox had the best week, winning all four of their games. But the Barons got back on track as well, largely led by the pitching staff and outfielder Wilfred Veras. However, the best individual performance belonged to Rafael Ortega, who made hitting Triple-A pitching appear easy to hit.
