Team USA Turns Corner In 105-79 Win Over Serbia

On Wednesday afternoon, we saw Team USA finally start to see the Americans play like we all thought they would in their big 105-79 win over Serbia.

After a slower first two wins against Canada and Australia, we saw Team USA start to come together and find their rhythm on both ends of the floor with just two exhibition games remaining before the Americans open group play in Paris.

Serbia brought the US a preview of their group stage as the Serbians are expected to be the Stars and Stripes’ biggest competitor in Group C.

Out of the gates, it was Serbia who seemed to have been the better team in the first quarter. The two teams were deadlocked at 24 with the US struggling to find their game on the offensive end.

Team USA struggled with turnovers for much of the first half but towards the end of the second quarter, they finally found the game that we knew they had.

Anthony Davis and Bam Adebayo combined to lead the second unit which helped the Americans start to dominate towards the end of the second half, propelling Team USA to a 59-45 lead.

Once the second half started, the Americans started on a 12-0 run with Lebron, Steph, and company finding their rhythm.

The Stars and Stripes led by 25 entering the fourth and would go on to win the game by a dominant 29 points.

For the first time in Team USA’s Olympic prep, we finally saw chemistry and connection on the offensive end of the floor.

It sounds cliche but passes were more crisp, sets were run more efficiently and overall it was just smoother from Team USA.

Steph Curry led a balanced scoring attack with 18 points followed by Anthony Edwards with 10.

Despite the offensive end being a lot better, the defense remained strong and propelled the Americans to victory.

Once again it was Bam and AD who dominated the interior and helped the Americans hold Serbia to just 76 points.

The United States was able to put together a dominate effort in both ends in their best showing yet.

Up next for Team USA, they will fly to London to take on South Sudan and Gremany before making the quick flight to Paris where they will open Olympic play against these same Serbians on July 28th.
