TAKE MY MONEY: The Chicago Cubs Dropped A New Jersey
Last year’s MLB jerseys were an abomination. There, I said it. If you were following the league AT ALL in 2024, then you already know that Major League Baseball dropped the ball with it’s uniforms. They gave the company, Fanatics, the reigns when it came to designing what their players would be wearing……and they MESSED THEM UP to no end.
It was an absolutely GOD-AWFUL display of work, that turned into a JOKE throughout the season. I mean, just look at their destruction…..
The Phillies’ old jersey nameplates vs. 2024’s update:

Gone were the big bold letters that were on the player’s nameplates, and the numbering that made the jerseys feel grander than they actually were. Instead….Fanatics and the league gave us some cheap, unauthentic garb that made even the biggest baseball fan vomit in their mouth. It was putrid, and something that was quickly vilified by the baseball community as a whole.
It was a TERRIBLE era for America’s Past-Time. But THANKFULLY, it looks like we are past it. It looks like we are officially DONE with the garbage jerseys, and the see-through pants.
Why is that, you may ask?

Well……It’s because MY Chicago Cubs just announced one of the most ELECTRIC uniforms in the history of uniforms. The Chicago Cubs dropped these powder-blue beauties on us yesterday, which lead the entire city of Chicago to collectively yell out;
“TAKE ALL OF OUR MONEY!”
Yes, TAKE ALL OF OUR MONEY! We are a few months removed from the end of the 2024 season, and the league and it’s teams are ALREADY putting out the HEAT. They are ALREADY giving us reasons to spend money, before the first pitch has even been thrown.
These baby blues, as explained on ESPN.com; “pay tribute to the team’s history and honors Chicago’s contribution to the electric blues music movement with multiple nods to the era.” It is a wonderful mashup of old school meeting new school, that hasn’t been seen at Wrigley since 1961.
The Cubbies will debut their new threads on April 5th in Chicago against the San Diego Padres……the day after Opening Day. It will be a very special moment for the city, and the fans, that I DON’T want to miss.
Sure, this may just be seen as another way for the team to make money. But do I care? Absolutely NOT! As someone who had to deal with the bland “Wrigleyville” uniforms from a few years ago…

I NEEDED something fresh and cool to sink my teeth into. And now…..I have that something. I need to suit up in one of these bad boys NOW, and I don’t care how much it costs. This will be in my closet this season, and I hope every other Chicagoan does the same.
But what do I know? I’m just a guy from the Midwest, with a beer and a laptop, trying to make sense of this world.
