Who gets the game ball for the Steelers 44-38 win over the Bengals in Week 13?
The Pittsburgh Steelers got back to their winning ways and pushed their record to 9-3 by getting another AFC North win by defeating the Bengals in Cincinnati. This time it was offense being prevalent as the teams combined for 82 points.
But who gets the game ball?
Each win for the Steelers this season, I will set forth nominations to receive the SCN game ball. It does not necessarily have to be the best player on the field, but who really stepped up their game this particular week. After the case has been made, you all decide which player takes home the honor.
Previous Game Ball winners from the 2024 season include:
Week 1: Chris Boswell (92%)
Week 2: Cory Trice (28%)
Week 3: Justin Fields (69%)
Week 6: T.J. Watt (49%)
Week 7: Beanie Bishop (57%)
Week 8: Calvin Austin (79%)
Week 10: Cam Heyward (32%)
Week 11: Chris Boswell (66%)
I will remind everyone of the rules that it is individual players who will be in the running. Although it could be applicable, it will not be either position groups or coaches who are eligible for this designation as they are more in line for Jeff Hartman’s Winners and Losers article.
So here are the nominations in no particular order:
T.J. Watt
After having only one sack over the past three games since the Steelers bye, T.J. Watt came through with 2.0 sacks in the game, one of which was of the strip sack variety and gave the Steelers their first takeaway of the game. Watt finished with three tackles, all of which were for loss, and five quarterback hits.
Russell Wilson
There is so much to say about Russell Wilson from this game. Throwing for 414 yards on 29 completions from 38 attempts, Wilson had three passing touchdowns to one interception which should have been negated by a penalty. Wilson was sacked twice, but both were pretty much by his own choice. Most importantly, Wilson led the offense to seven scoring drives with four touchdowns and three field goals as well as another drive with a field goal was blocked.
Cam Heyward
The Steelers captain has turned into quite the ageless wonder. If a team isn’t careful, Cam Heyward will just dominate them throughout. In the game, Heyward had 1.0 sack along with five tackles with two being for loss. Heyward also had two quarterback hits and a pass batted at the line of scrimmage which resulted in a Steelers interception.
Najee Harris
Although he did not have phenomenal rushing stats, Najee Harris had 129 all-purpose yards. With 75 rushing yards on 16 carries for a 4.7 average, Harris also added a rushing touchdown. In the passing game, Harris had six catches on six targets for 54 yards.
So what do you think? Who deserves the game ball for the Steelers this week? Make sure you vote in the poll as this is how the winner will be determined. As a bonus, you can even add another choice if you think someone other than these five should get the honor (and no cheating on the rules or it will be removed). And of course, feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments below.
