Who gets the game ball for the Steelers 37-15 win over the Jets in Week 7?
The Pittsburgh Steelers got back-to-back 30 point performances and another win, this time over the New York Jets. Despite being home underdogs to a team with a losing record, the Steelers took control in the second half for another decisive victory.
But who gets the game ball?
Each win for the Steelers this season, I will set forth nominations to receive the SCN game ball. It does not necessarily have to be the best player on the field, but who really stepped up their game this particular week. After the case has been made, you all decide which player takes home the honor.
Previous Game Ball winners from the 2024 season include:
Week 1: Chris Boswell (92%)
Week 2: Cory Trice (28%)
Week 3: Justin Fields (69%)
Week 6: T.J. Watt (49%)
I will remind everyone of the rules that it is individual players who will be in the running. Although it could be applicable, it will not be either position groups or coaches who are eligible for this designation as they are more in line for Jeff Hartman’s Winners and Losers article.
So here are the nominations in no particular order:
Russell Wilson
In his first start in a Steelers uniform, Russell Wilson delivered 37 points with 24 coming in the second half. Wilson was 16 of 29 for 264 yards with two passing touchdowns as well as one rushing touchdown.
Beanie Bishop
After getting his first career interception late in the first half to set the Steelers up to score a touchdown just before the half, Bishop did it again in the third quarter with another interception he returned all the way down to the 1-yard line. Bishop also added a tackle for loss as one of his six tackles.
George Pickens
Finding a good connection with Russell Wilson, George Pickens pulled in five receptions on nine targets for 111 yards and his first touchdown of the season. Pickens also drew a 29-yard pass interference penalty.
Najee Harris
Going over 100 yards for the second time in two weeks, Najee Harris hit 102 yards on 21 carries along with a touchdown after having just average numbers through the first three quarters. But the fourth quarter is where Harris took over where he had 10 carries for 70 yards along with his touchdown.
Ryan McCollum
Although it wasn’t as if he had an off-the-charts game, Ryan McCollum did an adequate job filling in for center Zach Frazier. Even though he was called for one holding penalty, McCollum had a tough matchup on Sunday night and ended up not being an area of concern.
So what do you think? Who deserves the game ball for the Steelers this week? Make sure you vote in the poll as this is how the winner will be determined. As a bonus, you can even add another choice if you think someone other than these five should get the honor (and no cheating on the rules or it will be removed). And of course, feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments below.
