Who gets the game ball for the Steelers 28-27 win over Commanders in Week 10?
The Pittsburgh Steelers have extended their winning streak to four games and pushed their record to 7-2 coming out of the bye week with a 28-27 win over the Washington Commanders. While the outcome was in doubt until the very end, the Steelers overcame several mistakes to get the win on the road against a quality NFC opponent.
But who gets the game ball?
Each win for the Steelers this season, I will set forth nominations to receive the SCN game ball. It does not necessarily have to be the best player on the field, but who really stepped up their game this particular week. After the case has been made, you all decide which player takes home the honor.
Previous Game Ball winners from the 2024 season include:
Week 1: Chris Boswell (92%)
Week 2: Cory Trice (28%)
Week 3: Justin Fields (69%)
Week 6: T.J. Watt (49%)
Week 7: Beanie Bishop (57%)
Week 8 Calvin Austin (79%)
I will remind everyone of the rules that it is individual players who will be in the running. Although it could be applicable, it will not be either position groups or coaches who are eligible for this designation as they are more in line for Jeff Hartman’s Winners and Losers article.
So here are the nominations in no particular order:
Patrick Queen
In what was arguably his best game with the Steelers so far, Patrick Queen lead the Steelers in tackles with seven. Additionally, he had two key tackles for loss as well as a nice pass defensed.
George Pickens
Despite seeing double coverage for most of the game, George Pickens made the most of his opportunities pulling in five receptions for 91 yards and a touchdown. An additional touch for Pickens is currently being ruled as a rush attempt for four more yards.
Cam Heyward
The Steelers longtime captain has been playing fantastic all year, and this game was no exception. Heyward had 2.0 of the Steelers 3.0 sacks on the day as well as a batted ball.
Mike Williams
Not called on much in his Steelers debut, Mike Williams did make his presence known when he finally got the opportunity. Despite only having one target in his first game with the Steelers since being acquired on Tuesday at the trade deadline, Williams pulled in a 32-yard touchdown catch to win the game with less than 2:30 to play.
Preston Smith
Speaking of players making their Steelers debut, Preston Smith was no slouch either. Working in as the rotational outside linebacker and stepping in at the end when Alex Highsmith left with an ankle injury, Smith had three tackles, two of which were for loss, as well as 1.0 sack.
So what do you think? Who deserves the game ball for the Steelers this week? Make sure you vote in the poll as this is how the winner will be determined. As a bonus, you can even add another choice if you think someone other than these five should get the honor (and no cheating on the rules or it will be removed). And of course, feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments below.
