Which coach gets the game ball for the Steelers first half of the 2024 season?

The Pittsburgh Steelers have managed to secure a 6-2 record for the first half of the 2024 season. Hitting their bye week before entering their tough, 9-game stretch, it’s time to reflect on what the team, both individually and collectively, have done to this point of the season.

But which coach gets the mid-season game ball?

Each win for the Steelers this season, I have set forth nominations to receive the SCN game ball. It does not necessarily have to be the best player on the field, but who really stepped up their game this particular week. After the case was made, you all decided which player took home the honor.

Previous Game Ball winners from the 2024 season include:

Week 1: Chris Boswell (92%)
Week 2: Cory Trice (28%)
Week 3: Justin Fields (69%)
Week 6: T.J. Watt (49%)
Week 7: Beanie Bishop (57%)
Week 8: Calvin Austin (currently 79%)

After looking at the mid-season game ball for players yesterday, which coach deserves a game ball based on the first 8 games?

Here are the nominations in no particular order:

Mike Tomlin

Things typically stop and end with the head coach, especially when it comes to the Pittsburgh Steelers. With plenty of Steelers fans with opinions on both end of the spectrum when it comes to Mike Tomlin, it’s difficult to complain about things this year especially when Tomlin made the tough choice to switch quarterbacks when the Steelers were 4–2.

Danny Smith

The Steelers special teams have been lights out this season. It would be hard to find another NFL team who has outperformed what the Steelers have done. Behind it all is the bubblegum-chewing master of Danny Smith who seemed to be able to dial up a block almost every week.

Arthur Smith

The Steelers have what looks like a legitimate NFL offense this season after fans have struggled through watching the unit operate over the last several years. What’s better is it seems that Arthur Smith is just now hitting his stride as the Steelers have put up three 400-yard games this season with two coming in their last two wins.

Teryl Austin

There are some who think Teryl Austin is doing a great job while others think there’s a lot to be desired. But being the coordinator of one of the best defenses in the NFL, Austin at least deserves the opportunity for someone to vote for him.

Tom Arth

Some Steelers fans might not even know who this is, but the Steelers have a new quarterback coach in 2024 who has managed to help the Steelers have much better play at the position. Granted the addition of Russell Wilson and Justin Fields goes along way, but Tom Arth had Justin Fields looking much different than he did in Chicago, and by the first week of the season.

So what do you think? Who deserves the mid-season game ball for the Steelers? Make sure you vote in the poll as this is how the winner will be determined. As a bonus, you can even add another choice if you think someone other than these five should get the honor (and no cheating on the rules or it will be removed, meaning it is an individual coach not already listed). And of course, feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments below.
