Top 10 Quarterbacks in Fantasy Football for 2024
We are just a couple short weeks away from the beginning of training camp, but until then, the primary focus for fans is in the lens of fantasy football. With this in mind, let’s take a closer look at the top players in fantasy football at each position and formulate a top 10 at each position.
As a reminder, make sure you check out the Draft Dynasty podcast, which is released every Wednesday on the FFSN NFL podcast feed wherever you listen to podcasts. Each week, Jeremy Betz and I tackle the biggest questions in the fantasy football or NFL Draft landscape.
Today, we begin our top-10 rankings with the quarterback position. Fantasy managers will have quite a decision to make this year on whether or not to take one of the top quarterbacks, as the depth looks appealing at the position once again. Breakouts from C.J. Stroud and Anthony Richardson have only made it a stronger position.
Here are my current top 10 quarterbacks for fantasy football in 2024:
1. Josh Allen
I still have to give the edge to Allen here, although I do not think it is undisputed. After losing Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, the weaponry is not great in Buffalo. However, Keon Coleman should fit in nicely as the season rolls on, and Allen’s rushing ability always gives him a high weekly floor.
2. Patrick Mahomes
Last season was not the best season for Mahomes in fantasy, but he has more to work with on offense this season, regardless of Rashee Rice’s availability. With a more favorable schedule, I think Mahomes is in line for a big fantasy bounce back.
3. Jalen Hurts
Much of the offensive system in Philadelphia is brand new, which increases the risk with Hurts. On the positive side, the addition of Saquon Barkley provides a bigger running threat than what they have had the past couple seasons, which should improve efficiency on RPO plays.
4. Anthony Richardson
The offensive line in Indy may not be what it was just a few years ago, but it is still above average, and the weaponry is only improving. Michael Pittman, Jr. is one of the most consistent receivers in the league, Josh Downs proved to be a steady slot receiver in his rookie season, and the team just spent a second-round pick on the explosive Adonai Mitchell. If Jonathan Taylor remains healthy, Richardson has a legitimate shot of finishing the year as a top-3 QB.
5. Lamar Jackson
Jackson was the QB4 last season, and the offense has only improved this offseason. The addition of Derrick Henry may take a couple rushing touchdowns away from Jackson, but the best rushing quarterback in the NFL is always going to be a high-upside play.
6. C.J. Stroud
I understand the hype surrounding Stroud as a secure top-5 option, but the offensive line in Houston was not great last year, and it did not get much better this offseason. Also, teams have had a year to do their homework on Stroud, which could allow for just the slightest bit of regression.
7. Jordan Love
Love finished the season as the QB5 last season, and it would not shock me if he does it again this year. Josh Jacobs is a more durable running back than Aaron Jones, which should allow for a more consistent running game, and all the main weapons from last year are back and a year more mature.
8. Dak Prescott
Dak is coming off an incredible year for fantasy, but there has not been any major additions to this offense, and the running game could struggle even worse than it did at times in 2023. Fortunately, Mike McCarthy’s pass-heavy philosophy will always increase the weekly floor for Dak.
9. Joe Burrow
If Burrow can stay healthy, he could easily end as a top-5 QB in fantasy, but betting on Burrow’s health is a major risk. The 1-2 punch at wide receiver with Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins is one of the best tandems in the league, but despite a good situation, fantasy owners would be wise to invest in a competent backup if pulling the trigger on Burrow.
10. Justin Herbert
Everyone is sleeping on this Chargers offense, but people do not realize that Jim Harbaugh has not always needed the most explosive skill players to run an efficient offense. They want to run the ball, no doubt, but the Herbert-Harbaugh marriage is one I expect big things from early on in the relationship.
