The line for the Steelers-Bills game stays mostly steady despite the postponement

Pittsburgh Steelers fans are having to wait an additional 27.5 hours before they get to see their beloved Steelers kickoff in the 2023 NFL postseason. With the game being moved from Sunday at 1 PM to Monday at 4:30 PM, the weather conditions for everyone to safely get to and from the stadium are hoping to be much improved. As for the conditions during the game itself, things still might not be all sunshine and rainbows, but are expected to be an improvement over Sunday.

But when it comes to the betting lines for the game, things aren’t all that different from where the Steelers were expected to play Sunday versus now being scheduled to play on Monday.

As what happens often with betting lines, things change as game time approaches. Sometimes there are small changes while others are big jumps. With the weather conditions expected to be at least slightly improved for the new kickoff time, one might have thought the game lines would move. But for the most part, things have stayed the same.

Looking back at the betting lines via DraftKings used on the Steelers Preview podcast on Thursday night, the Steelers were 10-point underdogs with an over/under of 36.0. If doing the math, this meant that the projected score would come out to be Buffalo 23, Pittsburgh 13.

Looking at the lines just before noon on Sunday, things have not changed all that much with the change and kickoff time. The Steelers are still sitting at 10-point underdogs according to DraftKings, and the over/under has bumped up slightly to 37.5 total points. Using these numbers, and rounding that over/under up to 38, it would put the projected score as Buffalo 24, Pittsburgh 14.

How much moving the game time changed the actual outcome will never be now because there is no game happening at 1 PM Sunday in order to compare. Additionally, there is still no guarantee that the game will kickoff at 4:30 PM on Monday if conditions don’t improve to where traveling to the stadium could be done safely. Regardless, it appears that those who set the lines for these games believe pushing the game back will have a little impact on the results.
