T.J. Watt selected as Steelers team MVP for the 2024 season

As the Pittsburgh Steelers enter their final week of the 2024 NFL regular season, it’s time again for various team awards to be announced. First up, the Steelers announced on Tuesday that outside linebacker T.J. Watt has been selected by his teammates as the Steelers Most Valuable Player for 2024.

This from the Steelers official Twitter/X account:

This is the fifth time in six seasons where Watt has been selected as the team MVP, passing wide receiver Antonio Brown for the most in franchise history. The only season in which Watt was not selected in the last six years was in 2022 where he missed seven games due to injury and All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick was selected. This is the sixth-straight season a defensive player has been selected as Steelers team MVP which followed eight years of offensive players. Previous to Watt and Fitzpatrick, the most recent defensive player selected as team MVP was Troy Polamalu in 2010.

For the 2024 season, T.J. Watt currently leads the NFL with six forced fumbles. Watt has 11.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries, four passes defensed, and 17 tackles for loss. Despite lower numbers than last season, Watt is still in the discussion for NFL Defensive Player of the Year, an award he won following the 2021 NFL season.
