Steelers vs. Titans Picks: See who the SCN staff is predicting to win
IT’S GAME DAY!!
That means while we all wait for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Titans to kickoff at 8:15pm EST in Week 9 on Thursday night, it’s time to take a look at who the SCN staff likes in this game. The current line for the game is PIT (-3) with a Total of 36.
But these picks are vs. the spread, or based on an over/under. These are straight up picks. So, let’s get to the prognostications.
Jeff Hartman
The Steelers are coming off a horrible home loss and are a banged up team. Meanwhile, the Titans are a team who is coming off a huge win, and the fan base has Will Levis fever after his 4 TD performance vs. Atlanta last week. I think Kenny Pickett plays, and I think he performs admirably. Ultimately, I’ll take the home team vs. a rookie quarterback on a short week. This won’t be pretty though.
Prediction: Steelers 20, Titans 17
Dave Schofield
This game could really go either way. The Steelers offense has continued to be anemic in the first half, But seeing what they have done in some games particularly in the fourth quarter shows what it could be. Will Steelers ever have that offense for the entire game? The fact Kenny Pickett is playing gives more of a chance. Although it hurts to not have Minkah Fitzpatrick, Cam Heyward could give a nice boost to this defense since he has returned. There’s just something about playing at home on a Thursday night that not only has me thinking the Steelers win, but they’ll score more points than they have all season.
Prediction: Steelers 27, Titans 20

Kenny Pickett is playing, but honestly in my opinion it wouldn’t really turn the outcome if he didn’t. And that’s not a knock on Pickett. It’s all about the situation here. The Steelers are coming off a tough loss, their opponent is riding high off a big win, the fanbase is down on the team, AND it’s a Prime Time game at home. It’s the ultimate Mike Tomlin scenario. Bold Prediction: Kenny tosses 3 TDs for the first time as a pro in a Steelers win.
Prediction: Steelers 27, Titans 20

No need for a lengthy reason for why the Steelers will be “upset” by the Titans on Thursday Night Football. They stink. The end.
Prediction: Titans 24, Steelers 10

Let’s see. The Steelers are usually great in prime time, especially at home. Better yet, they are facing a rookie quarterback. Plus, the home team usually has a substantial advantage on Thursday night. So why do I have zero faith that the Steelers can win this game? I guess I don’t expect anything to change because…..nothing has changed. Get ready for more of the same. I am sticking to my Pump Your Brakes podcast prediction.
Prediction: Titans 27, Steelers 17

The Titans have been one of the weirder teams to decipher in the NFL thus far, having beaten the Bengals and Chargers but also played pretty bad offensive football. Will Levis seemed to add a legitimate spark to a mediocre offense last weekend against the Falcons, but I think he’s in for a major “Welcome to the NFL” moment against the Steelers. Expect Pittsburgh’s defense to feast against the rookie, notching 2+ turnovers and 3+ sacks. Plus, having Kenny Pickett rather than Mitch Trubisky play gives me optimism for at least one solid-looking offensive drive. The black and gold haven’t lost to Tennessee since 2013, and I don’t envision that changing.
Prediction: Steelers 21, Titans 13

The Steelers currently are not a very fun team to watch and are not doing much to inspire me that they are going to change very quickly. Kenny Pickett being a bit dinged up and Minkah Fitzpatrick out for this game I think it’s going to be tough for the Steelers to win. Throw on top of that the Steelers have been having very slow starts and I could see this game quickly getting out of hand if the Steelers cannot do anything offensively in the first half.
Prediction: Titans 28, Steelers 17

Bounce back game! I love a Steelers bounce back game, especially when no one sees it coming. This will be ugly but the Steelers will muck it up and get it done. The Will Levis hype train gets derailed for a week as Cam Heyward returns to lead a stellar defensive effort and the offense cobbles together enough competency to get by.
Prediction: Steelers 16, Titans 13
