Steelers vs. Patriots Picks: See who the SCN staff is predicting to win

IT’S GAME DAY!!

That means while we all wait for the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots to kickoff at 8:15pm EST in Week 14 on Thursday Night Football, it’s time to take a look at who the SCN staff likes in this game. The current line for the game is PIT (-6) with a Total of 30.

But these picks are vs. the spread, or based on an over/under. These are straight up picks. So, let’s get to the prognostications…

Jeff Hartman

The Steelers are the home team on Thursday Night Football. An immediate advantage. Will they be able to cover the 6-point spread? I don’t think so. Total of 30? Hammer the under. This game is a crapshoot, just like it feels with the Steelers as a team/organization at this point.

Prediction: Steelers 16, Patriots 10

Dave Schofield

This game is trending towards being the lowest over/under total the NFL has seen in almost 20 years. Since 1979, there have been seven games that have had an O/U of 30 or less according to Pro Football Reference, with only one time the game finished as the under. But looking at these two offenses compared to the defenses, points will be at a premium and if either team can find the end zone it would be surprising. But as what happens in most close games this season, the Steelers find a way to pull it out.

Prediction: Steelers 9, Patriots 3

Jeremy Betz

The Steelers work best when their backs are against the wall. That’s exactly where they stand after Sunday’s horrific performance against the Cardinals. The Patriots bring a tough defense and bad offense of their own to Pittsburgh in an already lost season for them. This feels like a defensive slugfest with the playoff-looking Steelers staying afloat another week.

Prediction: Steelers 20, Patriots 10

What more can be said at this point?

Prediction: Patriots 7, Steelers 3

Shannon White

As much as I hate to admit this, I have lost all faith in Mitch Trubisky to function in this anemic Steelers offense. I honestly feel that Mason Rudolph is a better fit for the offense as currently constructed. That’s how bad this situation has become. The man I call Biscuit has vowed to “sling it” this week. Therefore I expect multiple interceptions, with probably one of the pick six variety. I stick with my Pump Your Brakes podcast prediction. Hope I’m wrong.

Prediction: Patriots 13, Steelers 6

Big Bro Scho

The Steelers conned me into picking them last week. I will not fall for that trick again. They got me excited with the offense they were showing again Cincinnati, only to turn around and give me that crap show I saw last weekend. My biggest worry is can the offense of the Steelers score against a Patriots defense which is required to carry their team even more than the Steelers defense is required to carry their offense. Points will be at a premium in this game.

Prediction: Patriots 5, Steelers 3

K.T. Smith

Put simply, if the Steelers don’t win this one, the season is probably over. Somehow, they have to find a way. First team to 16 wins…

Prediction: Steelers 16, Patriots 13
