Steelers vs. Eagles Picks: See who the SCN staff is predicting to win

IT’S GAME DAY!!

That means while we all wait for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles to kickoff at 4:25pm EST in Week 15 on Sunday, it’s time to take a look at who the SCN staff likes in this game. The current line for the game is PIT (+5.5) with a Total of 43.

But these picks are vs. the spread, or based on an over/under. These are straight up picks. So, let’s get to the prognostications…

Jeff Hartman

The Pittsburgh Steelers haven’t won in Philadelphia in a really long time. I’m not sure if you’ve heard that yet. All kidding aside, I think this Steelers team, even one without George Pickens and DeShon Elliott, can compete with this Eagles team. There are a lot of variables to consider here, and one not many are talking about is the Eagles kicking situation. Jake Elliott has been bad this season, and I think this game comes down to a game-winning kick…for Chris Boswell. Steelers pull off the upset, and the fan base ramps up to a fever pitch.

Prediction: Steelers 23, Eagles 20

If you keep reading, you’ll see that Jeremy Betz stole my score. But I picked this on Thursday night on the Steelers Preview so I’m sticking with it. It’s not that I don’t think the Steelers can win this game. In fact, if George Pickens and DeShon Elliott were playing I would probably change my pick. The most important thing in this game is for the Steelers to play a good, close game. As long as they do that, it can still benefit them down the stretch whether it’s a win or a loss.

Prediction: Eagles 24, Steelers 20

Jeremy Betz

0-10. 59 years. That’s how long it’s been since the Pittsburgh Steelers have beaten the Eagles in Philadelphia. It’s a strange stat with staying power, and I’m not sure I like the matchup for PIT this time around either. Philly is one of the few teams in the NFL that can counter the Steelers’ DL with devastating OL play and then turn around and give PIT’s OL fits with their own Front 4. With George Pickens absence limiting the Steelers’ big play ability on offense, and the historical trend of this matchup, I’m taking Philly in a close one.

Prediction: Eagles 24, Steelers 20

Anthony Defeo

I don’t have a great feeling about this game. This seems like the kind of matchup that’s too big for where Pittsburgh currently sits in its season. The Steelers just won two games in a row after that nasty loss to the Browns on TNF. They have the Ravens and Chiefs in the span of 11 days after this Sunday. Plus, Pittsburgh hasn’t won in Philadelphia since 1965. Believe it or not, this game feels more urgent for an Eagles team that has already won nine in a row. I can envision a scenario where Pittsburgh kind of goes through the motions and hopes to get back on the plane as healthy as possible for the final three weeks.

Prediction: Eagles 21, Steelers 0

Big Bro Scho

Going to be short and sweet from Big Bro this week. The Steelers, without Pickens and Elliot, will put up a valiant fight but come up short as the windless streak in Philadelphia continues. It will be a tough mostly defensive battle in some rain in Philly. In the end it may be the type of game that smacks the Steelers in line for what’s to come over the next two games.

Prediction: Eagles 20, Steelers 18

K.T. Smith

You may have heard that the Steelers haven’t won in Philly since 1965. Has that been repeated enough this week for you? And that the Steelers will be playing without Pickens, Elliott and Ogunjobi . And that they play 3 brutally tough games in 11 days. Blah blah blah.

Screw it. I’m going to the game on Sunday and I’m looking forward to a great ride home.

Prediction: Steelers 23, Eagles 20

Corey Eckenroth

Both of these teams sport good defenses. Both of these teams like to establish the run.

This will be a very good test for the Steelers defense to prove they are capable of handling a dynamic back like Barkley.

It will also be a test to see if the Steelers can run the ball effectively against a really good Eagles defense.

This game has playoff vibes all over it, and add to that the fact that both are right at the top of their respective Conferences for the No 1 Seeds.

The Steelers are primed to win the Division next week with a victory over the Ravens and I wouldn’t blame them for looking ahead to that matchup.

I can also see Arthur Smith holding back some of the playbook against a team they very well could meet in the Super Bowl.

Mix in a sprinkle of the decades of futility while playing IN Philly, and I can totally see where the Steelers may not come out on the winning end of this.

Then again, it seems like the Steelers are ready to break some curses this year. A win in Philadelphia would finally put to death the 59 year old monkey that’s been hanging around the Steelers back.

Prediction: Pittsburgh 26, Eagles 24

Jason Murphy

Assistant GM Andy Weidl came here to build the Steelers offensive line in the mold of the Eagles. With the absence of George Pickens, it is the litmus test to see how successful they are in reaching that goal. This will be yet another game that is won or lost in the trenches. There are more important games coming up on short week prep, but this game will be a test of wills that the team will be focused on. It could set the tone for the stretch run heading into postseason play.

Prediction: Steelers 20, Eagles 17

Sadie Hubler

The Steelers have a few things to prove in this matchup against one of the NFC’s elite. First, Pittsburgh has not won in Philadelphia since 1965. That in itself should give the team some momentum. While the Steelers have been the more successful franchise in the Super Bowl era, it sure would be nice to end that winless streak this Sunday!

Perhaps more importantly, the Eagles are a very talented team who knows how to win and have a running back having a career year in Saquon Barkley. They are among the NFC’s top teams, fighting for the number one seed in the playoffs. If Pittsburgh pulls out a win today, I think they prove they are capable of beating anyone. I am predicting that they do just that in a hard fought one.

Prediction: Steelers 30, Eagles 28
